Ongoing efforts to help two geospatial professionals haven’t netted positive results. Still, there are actions that every GIS colleague can extend to help.
Mark Bosworth, an Oregonian who may have brain cancer that has affected his cognitive abilities, has been missing since September 16 when he disappeared while volunteering with the Cycle Oregon bike tour. Bosworth is a GIS staff member for Portland Metro and efforts are ongoing to try and locate him. Updates about the search effort can be found at http://www.findmark.org/
GIS professional Atanas Entchev is still in detainment at the Delaney Hall Detention Center. Entchev has been there since he was detained on immigration charges in October (see: Help Support Geospatial Professional Atanas Entchev). At the beginning of November, Atanas Entchev was denied his request for prosecutorial discretion. The battle to free Atanas and provide his family with a path towards legal immigration status is ongoing. His wife, Mayia Entchev has created a petition to ICE on Change.org. Please take a moment to sign the petition.
