Scholarships for Women to Attend State of the Map US

Stating that, ” we want to increase the number of women participating in the OpenStreetMap community”, scholarships to attend the April State of the Map US are being offered by OpenStreetMap.  State of the Map US is the annual conference for users of OpenStreetMap data in the United States.  This year, it will be held in Washington D.C. from April 12-14.

Bonnie Bogle with Operations at OpenStreetMap has posted about “Upping the Girl Power in OpenStreetMap” and the scholarship opportunities.  Women interested in geo, mapping, open data, and the OpenStreetMap community that want to attend OpenStreetMap are asked to submit a scholarship application.

The submission process is pretty simple; applicants should describe why they want to attend and how they use OpenStreetMap data.  Those awarded scholarships will receive free admission to State of the Map and up to $500 towards travel and accommodations.  The deadline is this Sunday, February 9, 2014.

Applying for scholarships to State of the Map US isn’t restricted solely to women, all worthy applicants will be considered, regardless of gender.
