R and Census Mapping Webinar

Interested in mapping US Census data with R?  Ari Lamstein invites interested participants to an upcoming webinar about using US Census data with R cohosted with Geography professor, Kyle Walker.

From Ari:

I wanted to let you know about a webinar that I’ll be hosting next Tuesday, April 4 at 9am PT with Kyle Walker about the Tigris package in R. In addition to creating the Tigris package, Kyle is also a Professor of Geography at Texas Christian University.
Tigris provides some really impressive functionality for working with US Census Shapefiles in R. Before Tigris, if you wanted to work with a TIGER shapefile you had to download and import it yourself, which could be fairly time-consuming.
With Tigris, you can download and import TIGER shapefiles directly from your R console, and then map them using the graphics library of your choice!
In the webinar, Kyle will explain what shapefiles the Census Bureau has available, and also give a demonstration of how to use Tigris. After the presentation, there will be a live Q&A session.
