Map Critiquing Blog

Ad:

With the tagline, “Mistakes were map”, Cartastrophe is a blog by Daniel Huffman that provides a detailed critique of the maps he profiles.  Each post looks at all aspects of the subject map as the color scheme, symbolization, layout, geographic data choices and more are dissected.  While fairly new (the site has been live for about a month), it’s sure to become a useful for resource for budding cartographers in that a good way to learn how to become more skilled in map making is to understand what not to do. As Huffman states in his “Word to the Victims” note, ‘We laugh about them, we criticize, and we grow our skills from the experience.’
