Esri Launches GIS for Racial Justice Site

Esri has unveiled a new GIS hub to provide organizations with resources to help them address racial Esri has unveiled a new GIS hub to provide organizations with resources to help them improve racial equity. Launched on Juneteenth, the portal is intended to provide governmental agencies, non-profits, and business with resources to “explore how GIS can help address racial inequities in your community and beyond.”

The site includes articles presenting case studies and research on racism and racial justice such as: Researchers Map Prejudice in Minneapolis’ Past, Use ArcGIS Dashboards to Increase Racial Equity in Your COVID-19 Response, and Maps: The Fight for Fairer Redistricting and Voting Rights. There is a link on the hub to the Racial Equity GIS Hub which provides access to GIS Data layers, training, and examples of how GIS is being applied to further racial justice. Those wanting to connect with other to discuss GIS and racial justice can participate in Esri’s GeoNet discussion forum on GIS for Equity & Social Justice.
