ArcGIS Runtime 100.1, dubbed “Update 1” per ArcGIS’ announcement, is now available for use. There are several new features available with Runtime’s first ever update, all of which hope to strengthen the API structure of the original version released in November of 2016. However, those who have created applications utilizing version 100.1 should not experience any interference with their projects.
Those using Runtime 100.1 will see that there are new options for layer types:
- ArcGIS image services
- Web tiled layers
With these new layer types, the new release includes the ability to create custom tiled layers through sub-classing ImageTiledLayer and ServiceImageTiledLayer. Using these two classes, individuals can create layers and import them to a current project, alongside providing metadata for users’ custom basemaps.
Editing for public features services from ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise are also now available for those who have the Lite license of this product. The editing of local geodatabases or private features services will still require a license of Basic, Standard or Advanced.
For those interested in using these and other new implemented features, visit ArcGIS for Developers and download the SDK.
