ArcGIS Online beta has launched (read the press release here).  The online service allows users to share maps, as well as make their own maps online.  Beyond the sharing of mapping resources, the site is also seeking to build community; you can join groups via the web site that share a geospatial focus that you’re interested in.  Within each groups, maps, applications, and tools can be shared.  Browsing through the site can be dome through the Gallery section and is divided into three categories: Maps, Web Apps, and Mobile Apps.  Click on the “Maps” link on to menu bar to access the “make your own map” section. has an interview with Bern Szukalski about the launch of (starting at around the 8:53 mark).  For a user perspective, James Fee explores on his blog.
