Esri has released ArcGIS 10.4.  Improvements and updates include the ability to author vector tile maps and layers using ArcGIS Pro and share them on ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS for Server and the inclusion of spatial analysis tools with ArcGIS for Server.  More detail about the new tools and additions to ArcGIS 10.4 can be accessed on Esri’s blog post and the “What’s new in ArcMap” page.
GIS Tutorial 2: Spatial Analysis Workbook
Esri Press has released the fourth edition of its GIS Tutorial 2: Spatial Analysis Workbook. Updated for ArcGIS versions 10.3x, the workbook teaches users spatial analysis skills using step-by-step examples.  From Esri: “Early exercises teach how to map and analyze location data to determine quantities (e.g., rainfall amounts) and densities (e.g., population density per census block or crime density per square mile). Other exercises focus on how to analyze relationships among datasets, find what’s nearby, map change in location and magnitude, map percentage change in values, measure geographic distribution, analyze patterns, identify clusters, and do hot spot analysis.”
The book is written by David W. Allen, the GIS manager for the City of Euless, Texas who also teachers GIS at Tarrant County College.
GIS Tutorial 2: Spatial Analysis Workbook is available in print (ISBN: 9781589484535, 344 pages, $79.99) or as an e-book (ISBN: 9781589484597, 344 pages, $39.99).
