Ad ends up being a lesson in Welsh geography for Google

| |

Google inadvertently upset residents by attributing the Welsh hamlet of Carmarthenshire to Powys instead.  A Christmas advertising campaign by Google invited users to get their travel directions from Google maps to get to Bethlehem which is used by many to mail out their Christmas greetings in order to have the name stamped on their mail.  Visitors clicking on the link were taken to the correct geographic location by the bubble read “Bethlehem, Powys, SA9”.  Being the only Bethlehem in the United Kingdom, it is a popular tourist attraction during the Christmas season.
