The EngagingCities site is raffling off a free registration to the Where Conference 2012 in exchange for you sharing your GIS or location-based services (LBS) story:

Have you been involved with a project that utilized GIS or location-based services to engage citizens? We want to hear details about which app was used, and how the public was engaged using maps and technology. The more creative, the better.

To enter the drawing, post a comment on the raffle page, with a brief description of the project plus a link to more details about the GIS or LBS technology used.  The deadline has been extended to Wednesday, February 29th, 2012 to be eligible for the Where 2012 registration prize.

GIS Book Pick

The Look of Maps: An Examination of Cartographic Design is a cartographic classic by Arthur H. Robinson originally published in 1952. The book was based on Robinson’s doctoral research “which investigated the relationship between science and art in cartography and the resultant refinement of graphic techniques in mapmaking to present dynamic geographic information.”
